Faculty Lead - Steering Committee

The Faculty Lead Steering Committee will be a sub-committee made up of faculty members on campus who would aid in our efforts at a council. The creation of such a sub-committee was recommended to us by one of our faculty advisors, Betsy Ludwig, as a means for us to bring in advisors from all the colleges to ensure the interdisciplinary focus of our council stays true. The committee is meant to advise the council on the specific focuses of each of the colleges every semester and help contextualize how we can add gender equality to those focuses in any way we can. Additionally, it will better allow us to know what's going on around campus in a more general sense. The time requirement is minimal at best, nothing more than two to three meetings each semester but that will be discussed in more detail once the committee has been formed. The leadership team will be setting a cap on the number of advisors from each college so as to ensure no college has a bigger influence but that cap will not be placed until recommendations are vetted. We recommend suggesting professors and faculty members who you believe share the mission of our council and would help bring it to life in their respective colleges. If you have questions about who to recommend, please direct them to neuiwc@gmail.com

Student Lead - Advisory Committee

The Student Lead - Advisory Committee will be a subcommittee made up of former female leaders on campus who can help guide current leaders with their efforts on campus. The creation of such a sub-council was recommended to us by one of our faculty advisors, Betsy Ludwig, as a means for us to not only bring together the women of this campus but to bring together its leaders as well. The council is meant to bring together female leaders from northeastern to educate those who come after them as well as to put together a forum of what female leadership on the college level looks like. This council will be a primary body from which the IWC leadership team looks to if they need help or advice, if they need speakers for events regarding leadership, and to whom the leadership team will direct requests from other organizations in need of leadership advice or council. The time requirement is minimal at best, nothing more than a few meetings each semester but that will be discussed with each of the members individually. The qualifications for someone to be on the board are minimal:

  • The individual must identify as female
  • The individual must have either
    • led an organization on campus
    • been a prominent member of an organization's leadership team or eboard
  • The individual must not currently hold the position that qualifies them
  • The individual may be a current student of Northeastern or an alumni
